Dr Peter Le Fevre
The British Navy and administration c. 1660-1720 with special reference to Arthur Herbert Earl of Torrington (1648-1716), who commanded William's invasion fleet in 1688 and commander of the defeated Anglo Dutch fleet at the Battle of Beachy Head 30 June 1690. I am currently completing Torrington's biography which is called All the Vices
Also researching the shipbuilding and operational history of a surviving 3rd Rate from the reign of Charles II called The Anne which took part in the Battle of Beachy Head 30 June 1690 and was burnt five days later.
Also the history of Chatham dockyard where the ship was built.I am also interested in Sir David Colyear 1st Earl of Portmore (1655-1731) who served in William's army in the 1670s and 1680s and accompanied him to England in 1688
