On 7 and 8 January 2005, The Williamite Universe organised its third annual conference, in Het Loo Palace, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, entitled Foreign Policy, Religious Conflict and Public Discourse in post-Westphalian Europe (1648-1713). This conference intended to gauge the continuous influence of religion on armed conflict after the so-called Wars of Religion. Speakers included Matthew Glozier (Canberra), Simon Groenveld (Leiden), Donald Haks (ING, The Hague), Ben Kaplan (London), Robert von Friedeburg (Rotterdam) and Paul Sonnino (Santa Barbara).
