The Netherlands Research School of Genderstudies (NOG)

The Netherlands Research School of Genderstudies (NOG) provides a national platform for gender research and teaching by faculty members from various Dutch universities and it offers a highly successful training programme and environment for postgraduate and PhD students since 1995.The NOG teaching and research staff consists of an international team of professors and senior lecturers.
The NOG offers several training options specially designed for postgraduate and PhD students. These training programmes are open to Dutch and foreign students. The NOG is a top European programme and plays a central role in European cooperation on research and training in the area of Gender studies. It has an excellent, long-standing international reputation for its pioneering work in the field of literary, cultural, philosophical, anthropological and epistemological Gender studies. It offers one of Europe’s most advanced interdisciplinary teaching and research programmes in the humanities, with a core curriculum on feminist theory, issues of difference and diversity, gender, and multiculturalism.
In addition, the NOG is involved in European and international projects like the InterGender Network (together with Linkoping University, Berlin and Humboldt University, Helsinki University), and ATGENDER to establish a European joint PhD curriculum in Gender Studies.Unique in Europe, the NOG combines scholarly excellence, with intense training in Gender Studies at postgraduate and PhD level.
Researchers from all Dutch universities are partners in this national platform for gender research and teaching. The Gender Studies programme at Utrecht University is hosting the NOG. The NOG Board consists of Prof. Rosemarie Buikema (Utrecht University, Graduate Gender programme), Prof. Maaike Meijer (Maastricht University, Centre for Gender and Diversity) and Prof. Willy Jansen (Radboud University Nijmegen, Institute for Gender Studies).
