Curriculum VitaeHugo Quené received both his M.A. in Phonetics (1984) and his Ph.D. in Linguistics (1989) from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. His dissertation was a phonetic study of speech segmentation, about phonetic cues for word boundaries. He has worked as an assistant professor in Phonetics at Leiden University, and as a research scientist developing linguistic analyses and intonation rules for Dutch text-to-speech systems. Since 1989 he has worked as an assistant professor in Phonetics at Utrecht University. He has spent the year 2001-2002 as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, U.S.A., where he studied speech rhythm and other topics. From 1999-2006 he held an adjunct position in the Liberal Arts program at Utrecht University. |
